We are seeking an energentic, enthusiastic and motivated Director of Evironmental Services to join our dynamic and supportive multidisciplinary team!

We are looking for someone with solid experience as an Environmental director within a nursing home setting.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

College Degree relevant to the field preferred. A member of National Executive Housekeeping Association and Certified Executive Housekeeper preferred. Environmental management courses including knowledge of regulatory agency standards and code requirements.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum three years of institutional housekeeping management experience required, preferably in a long term care setting.

EQUIPMENT, MACHINES, OR MANUAL SKILLS REQUIRED

Must be able to operate all housekeeping equipment, vacuum cleaners, and floor care machines in order to demonstrate the use of the equipment to the environmental staff.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Position requires extensive periods of walking and standing. Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, and lift 50lbs. or more.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Ability to plan, evaluate needs and performance, and to initiate changes when necessary. Capable of supervising and training. Numerical ability necessary for mathematical computation. Requires free and unsupervised movement throughout the department and nursing home.

JOB SUMMARY: Functions within the framework of the philosophy, objectives, and policies established by the Brooklyn Gardens Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and all appropriate regulatory agencies. Functions as department head to include planning, implementing, developing, and controlling the Environmental/Laundry program for the residents of a 240 bed long term care facility. Directs and administers the Environmental/Laundry program to maintain the facility’s environment in a sanitary, attractive, orderly condition and free from infectious agents in accordance with regulatory agencies, procedures, and code requirements, and in a manner which maintains the dignity of the residents. Is also responsible for the coordination of resident laundry and linen processing.
