DON Job Description:
The Director of Nursing is a registered professional nurse who ensures quality of patient care in the patient’s residence. Primary function is for the overall administration of the clinical department and monitoring of appropriate staffing and productivity. Coordinates care with the interdisciplinary team, patient/family and referring agency. Monitors and analyzes QAPI issues and directs clinical staff about agency policy and procedures.
As an Director of Nursing; you will need:
Environmental and Working Conditions:
May work in patients’ home in various conditions; possible exposure to blood and bodily fluids; ability to work flexible schedule; ability to travel locally; Work On-Call, including death pronouncement. Must be available at all times either in person or via telecommunications.
Physical and Mental Effort:
Prolonged sitting required, with ability to operate office equipment which may include heavy lifting, bending, and standing. Requires ability to handle stressful situations in a calm and courteous manner at all times. If required to make patient visits, prolonged standing and walking required, with ability to lift up to 50 lbs and move patients. Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadline and patient needs, and to make quick decisions and resource acquisition.
Job Qualifications:
Transportation: Reliable transportation. Valid and current auto liability insurance.
