KUNGFU.AI is Hiring a Technical Project Manager Near Austin, TX

KUNGFU.AI is a management consulting and engineering firm focused exclusively on artificial intelligence. We empower CEOs and senior executives to leverage the full potential of AI so they remain competitive in a rapidly evolving world.

Our expert team delivers AI strategy and bespoke production-grade solutions that allow clients to rapidly realize value. We stand apart because we implement our AI strategies into production quickly, safely, and responsibly.

Outside of our virtual walls we are painters, foodies, cocktail connoisseurs, musicians, crossword-doers, athletes, dungeon masters, non-profit board members, and more. We’d welcome the opportunity to meet you.

As a Project Manager at KUNGFU.AI you will work with a delivery team of Machine Learning Engineers, Data Scientists, Software Engineers, and AI Strategists to successfully deliver projects to our clients.

\n

Here's what you'll be doing:

  • Project management processes including generating estimates, creating resource plans, assisting with statements of work, monitoring project status (scope, schedule, budget), managing personnel, managing risks, and obtaining deliverable acceptance
  • Creating project budgets, burn reports, forecasts, and invoicing documents
  • Working with a Client Partner and a Director of Engineering or Strategy Lead to manage client expectations, track dependencies, and resolve issue escalations
  • Training staff, clients, and new talent on our methodology and engagement models
  • Championing continuous improvement efforts including cross-training, knowledge sharing, and distribution of lessons learned within the Delivery Management team and throughout the organization
  • Working with project delivery leads in ensuring the quality of the deliverables meets client expectations
  • Managing client deliverable acceptance, project closure, and post-delivery client support
  • Supporting business development by ensuring SOWs are feasible and achievable while protecting the delivery team’s work/life balance
  • Tracking project financial performance against baseline expectations on assigned projects and client deliveries
What we're looking for:
  • A deep understanding of the software development life cycle and best practices in terms of processes, tools, and methodologies
  • A few years of experience in a client-facing role in a professional services organization or consulting agency
  • Someone who has successfully delivered multiple projects from ideation and initiation (think SOWs and work orders) through final delivery and client acceptance
  • Someone who is detail-oriented and able to handle multiple simultaneous engagements. (Note: We try to limit the number of simultaneous projects to around 3 per Project Manager)
  • Comfort with ambiguity, multiple concurrent projects, and experimental/proof of concept work as a norm
  • An ability to build strong relationships, drive conversations in the right direction, and build consensus across teams with diverse skillsets and working styles
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills that are tailored to a wide range of technical and non-technical audiences
  • Familiarity with quality assurance, quality control, and information security best practices
  • A strong focus on efficiency and automation where appropriate
  • Experience with a variety of delivery methodologies. Each of our projects are quite unique to the client and to the AI solution being delivered, so we don’t prescribe one specific workflow
  • Someone who enjoys a startup environment and has a willingness to occasionally stretch beyond the responsibilities outlined in this job description when needed
  • Taking ownership over the things you build and being eager to learn new skills and share them with those around you
  • Someone who is proactive, collaborative, communicative and strongly believes in empowering those around them
  • Strong professional and academic credentials (PMP, CSM, or equivalent) are ideal but not required

What's in it for you?

This is a remote, full-time position. Compensation includes competitive salary, company stock grant, top (‘gold’) level of health, dental and vision insurance (KUNGFU.AI covers 100% of your premiums and 50% for any dependents), health and dependent flexible spending accounts, short- and long-term disability insurance, unlimited vacation (that you're encouraged to take), paid parental leave, and more. If this opportunity excites you, we can’t wait to meet you!

Note: Due to ITAR compliance and regulations we are only able to hire US Citizens and Green Card Holders.

We are committed to building an inclusive culture that’s professional and effective, while also fun, collaborative and open. We are proud to be the first company to take The Startup Diversity and Inclusion Pledge, which one of our co-founders started. We actively encourage people from underrepresented groups to apply. We believe that a diverse and inclusive workforce fosters more creative ideas, conversations, and results.

We also believe in using AI for Good in both our client projects and our corporate philanthropy.

Our values are incredibly important to how we show up for each other, our clients, and for society at large. We expect all of our team members to be:

Inquisitive, in that they have an innate desire to learn and teach.

Inventive, in that nothing (ego, fear, etc.) gets in the way of innovation.

Open, in that they willingly share their learnings and experience with all.

Caring, in that they prioritize self-care, empathy, and an understanding of others.

Trustworthy, as that underpins all of the above.
