Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, Public Management or related field from an accredited school or university
- 5 years exempt-level experience in human resources management, with a working knowledge of the functional areas of Human Resources including, but not limited to employment law, compensation, employee benefits, recruitment, organizational planning, HRIS, employee relations, and training/development
- This position will have up to 3 direct reports, must have experience with 'direct reports' motiviating and deminstrating exemplorary leadership skills
- Proven ability to navigate ambiguity within a complex, dynamic, and rapidly changing business environment
- Proven ability to seamlessly transition between strategic thinking and tactical execution
- Proven ability to prioritize the most impactful work amidst multiple competing priorities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience with Microsoft suite of products
- Ability to maintain confidentiality or sensitive information
- Must have a the whearwithal to physically come into the office daily - this is not a hybrid or remote role
- PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP or SCP Certification strongly preferred
- Experience managing direct reports
- History working in a union environment is a plus
- Responsible for the optimal development and implementation of the Company’s HR initiatives to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement, particularly in talent management, total rewards, and culture/organizational effectiveness
- Responsible for actively integrating the business strategy with people management practices
- Counsel and coach employees, supervisors, managers, and directors regarding personnel related issues, laws, policies and other core HR functions
- Consult with managers and supervisors regarding interpretation and administration of Human Resources policies, programs, procedures and compliance with applicable state/federal statutes and regulations
- Maintain in-depth current knowledge of federal and state regulations to ensure compliance
- Review and benchmark the internal and external environment to improve the HR processes and initiatives to enhance overall business performance and capabilities
- Assist with recruiting and training and development programs
- Maintain all HR policies and assist in interpretation while ensuring compliance to all governmental requirements and regulations
- Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed
- Investigates and resolves Employee Relations issues and complaints
- Recommend employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation
- Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
- Advise managers and supervisors about the steps in the progressive discipline system of the company
