Job Details:
We are seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented Permanent Staff Accountant to join our team in the non-profit industry. This role is designed for a dedicated individual who thrives in a fast-paced, challenging environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling a wide range of accounting tasks, from GL Reconciliation to grant allocation accounting. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with a diverse team of scientists and administrators, contributing to the financial health and success of our organization.
Responsibilities:
1. Perform general ledger account reconciliations, verifying the accuracy of data, and investigating any discrepancies.
2. Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring all business transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
3. Prepare trial balance and work closely with the team to finalize month-end activities.
4. Handle grant allocation accounting, ensuring all grants are accurately tracked and reported.
5. Utilize QuickBooks Online ERP to manage all accounting tasks, including but not limited to AP and AR.
6. Ensure compliance with 501c3 regulations, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
7. Assist in the preparation of financial reports such as financial statements and budget performance.
8. Participate in financial audits, cooperating with internal and external auditors.
9. Analyze and report on financial status including income statement variances, communicating financial results to management.
Qualifications:
1. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the scientific industry.
3. Strong knowledge and experience with GL Reconciliation, Journal Entries, trial balance, month-end prep, and grant allocation accounting.
4. Proficient with QuickBooks Online ERP.
5. Familiarity with 501c3 regulations and experience in a non-profit environment is a plus.
6. Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
7. Proven ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records.
8. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
9. Excellent data entry skills along with a knack for numbers.
10. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
