Community & Economic Development Program Coordinator
URBAN AFFAIRS COALITION OVERVIEW:
The Urban Affairs Coalition (UAC) is a dynamic nonprofit organization that unites government, businesses, neighborhoods, and individual initiatives with a shared mission to enhance the quality of life in the region, foster wealth creation in urban communities, and address emerging issues. UAC is the home to 160 nonprofits and community initiatives. We strengthen organizations through fiscal sponsorship, shared services, program development, and capacity building; improve life chances for youth and young adults; and provide economic opportunity to low-income households, working families, and community businesses.
COMMUNITY & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM:
The CED program helps low to moderate income individuals in the Philadelphia region move from the margins to the economic mainstream. The goals of the department are to bring capital to underserved communities, enable low- and moderate-income individuals to become more economically empowered through better financial management, help residents and businesses in low- and moderate-income areas protect and build their assets, and develop strategies to address community and economic development concerns in the region.
The CED department is also the lead support staff to the committee of outside partner organizations called the CED Committee. The CED Committee is composed of approximately 50 members representing banks, bank regulatory agencies, community development organizations, government development agencies and intermediaries. It is the organizational hub of CED activities.
THE POSITION:
The Community & Economic Development Program Coordinator is instrumental in contributing to the department goals of wealth building, community revitalization, economic development and social justice in the Philadelphia region. A key component of the role is to manage and expand the financial empowerment program, overseeing components such as Financial Advancement Network (FAN) Clubs and Workshops, collaborative projects with allied agencies, and maintaining the website. Additionally, the coordinator will be responsible for Philadelphia Home.Buy.Now (HBN), a matching grant program administered by UAC. This multifaceted position also involves assisting the Director in managing various deliverables from the CED committee and the various subcommittees.
