Job Title: Controller
Reports to: Vice President
Job Type: Salary-Exempt
SUMMARY
Direct financial activities of the organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate employees.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
Provide reports on regular and ad hoc basis to support management decision making.
Prepare reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations and related cash flows.
Oversee the treasury, financial and accounting functions for all related business units.
Lead the monthly close process; consolidate results of businesses and provide bank required compliance documentation.
Approve credit applications for new customer and weekly review of aged receivables balances.
Develop, communicate and implement operational and financial metrics designed to improve operational performance and financial decision making.
Perform all duties required as the designated administrator of the companys 401k plan.
Review all 3rd party services to identify cost savings and improved cash flow opportunities.
Continually drive process improvement to better departmental efficiencies and provide detailed, accurate data on a timelier basis.
Complete cost accounting tasks including troubleshooting work order costing, setting company overhead rates, and leading excess and obsolete reviews and inventory management.
Advise management on desirable operational adjustments.
Oversee and manage all reviews and audits.
Manage personnel handling cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, human relations and payroll.
Advise management about insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities. Works with others who may be assigned the task of insurance coverage selection or coverage purchase.
Oversee preparation of budgets, review budget proposals, and prepare necessary supporting documentation and justification.
Manage all interface relationships needed for capital development or financing, asset sales and acquisitions, and business acquisitions and mergers.
Manage the archival of data/paper items needed to support the financial operations.
Manage ad-valorem tax renditions and objections, sales/use taxes, and any other tax requirements.
REQUIRED SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises employees in the Accounting Department.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable directives
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; Planning, assigning and directing work; Appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; Addressing complaints and resolving problems.
REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
B.S. Accounting.
Masters degree in accounting preferred.
Five years related experience in manufacturing/distribution/costing environment. Plant controller experiences a plus. Expertise in Microsoft Office. Experience with Global Shop a plus.1-2 year supervisory experience.2 years as staff auditor role (internal or Big 4) with manufacturing clients will be considered a plus.
