SHOPCO USA has an immediate need for an entrepreneurial, strategic, customer centric, highly driven and team-oriented Controller for our headquarters office in Houston, TX. Previous experience in Consumer Package Goods Sales or Manufacturing/Construction Sales to the Convenience Store Industry is a plus! Experience with managing, training, and coaching an accounting team a must!
Controller Job Description:
The successful candidate will be an individual with 7-10 years of managerial accounting and financial management experience in a rapidly growing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Directing all aspects of accounting operations, overseeing all transactions related to general ledger, receivables, payables, and financial reporting.
- Analyzing company's financial results with respect to profits, costs, and compliance with budgets. Issue regular status and reports to senior management.
- Developing and coordinating all relationships with banking/financial institutions.
- Developing and maintaining all necessary accounting policies and systems, including general ledger and financial reporting. Ensuring that records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Assisting senior management in financial planning and results management. Work with other team members to understand revenue and cost drivers and define appropriate reports for tracking.
- Coordinating, preparing, and reviewing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
- Coordinating and/or preparing tax schedules, returns and information.
- Managing all tax planning and compliance with all required federal, state, local, payroll, property, sales, and other applicable taxes.
- Managing relationships with insurance providers and ensuring compliance.
- Managing cash flow. Maintain bank software and treasury management compliance.
- Building an accounting department as the company grows.
- Managing, Coaching, and Training of all Accounting staff in the AR, AP, and administrative roles within the department.
- Interacting with officers and board of directors.
- Represent the company externally to government agencies and auditors.
- Other finance and administrative duties as required.
Job-Related Qualifications:
- Four-year degree in Finance or Accounting; Masters preferred.
- Strong computer skills are required. Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Hardworking, energetic, and highly motivated self-starter must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to establish priorities, meet deadlines and juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
- Must have a high level of interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels.
