Global Water Resources is Hiring a Financial Analyst Near Phoenix, AZ

Opportunity:

The Financial Analyst leads utility rate calculations for various regulatory filings and acts as an integral part of the regulatory affairs team. The analyst role is responsible for the development of rate case financial statements and schedules and serves as the Company’s subject matter expert and witness for rate cases filed with the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC).

The role is responsible for financial analysis, compilation of financial statements which include rate base schedules, test year income statements, cost of capital, statistical schedules, projections and forecasts, cost of service analyses, tariff schedules, revenue requirements, and proposed rate and bill impact analyses. The role reports directly to the Director, Regulatory Affairs and is responsible for communicating and working across the entire organization to achieve successful outcomes.

Primary Duties:

  • Preparation of revenue requirement and rate design calculations, projections, reconciliations, and modeling.
  • Responsible and acts to, manages financial issues, leads development of key case materials regarding revenue requirements and/or modeling, and billing determinants.
  • Serves as expert witness, including preparation of testimony, discovery, and work papers.
  • Reviews and assists subject matter experts with cross-over issues with the revenue requirement in development of testimony, work papers and discovery responses, settlement documents (if applicable) and communications materials as it relates to revenue requirements.
  • Evaluates and develops recommendations on cost recovery, ratemaking, customer programs and tariffs.
  • Reviews and summarizes financial components of Recommended Opinions and Order (ROO) and other regulatory filings.
  • Performs benchmarking (peer reviews) on competitors and other utility rates.
  • Provides rate case support, business case development and validation, and expedited responses to discovery requests from ACC staff and intervenors.
  • Presents findings and makes recommendation to management or others within organization.
  • Foster and maintain cooperative relationships with regulatory authorities and stakeholders.
  • Work with the Executive and Regulatory Teams to help rate case strategies on financial analyses.
  • Active drafter and participate in development of work products such as applications, testimony, briefs.
  • Consult with other departments such as operations, finance & accounting, as necessary to carry out assigned responsibilities. 
  • Perform other special projects and assignments as requested.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics or related field
  • Job-related experience in finance and accounting of at least 3yrs

Desired:

  • Master's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, strongly preferred
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Strong proficiency in development of financial statements and modeling
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles
  • Ability to work successfully independently and in fast-paced team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and quantitative skills
  • Intellectual curiosity, and relentless drive for continuous improvement
  • Experience with financial modeling and forecasting
  • Demonstrated success interacting at all organizational levels
