Job Overview:
The Financial Analyst is a business partner role responsible for communicating results and recommendations that will lead to cost reduction, revenue generation and operational improvement. Weekly activities include preparing, reviewing, and distributing reporting and analyses. The Financial Analyst is also responsible for assisting with the creation of monthly financial reporting packages, budgeting, forecasting, and any ad hoc reporting that may arise on a regular basis. These processes are time sensitive, deadline driven, and deal with sensitive and confidential information. This position requires a high level of detail, ability to maintain accuracy of information and ability to understand complex financial processes. This also requires a team member that is self-motivated, reliable, trustworthy, and conscientious with a thorough understanding of financial procedures and analysis. The analyst’s areas of focus will include, but not be limited to, supporting the senior leadership of the retail, commercial, and service divisions of our 950 stores across 38 states. The analyst will work in collaboration with various levels of leadership to develop financial and strategic plans, analyze financial and operational results and deliver meaningful insights into company performance. The position is based at Leslie’s corporate office in Phoenix, Arizona and reports directly to the Director of FP&A - Digital & Logistics.
Responsibilities:
• Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements of various cost centers and business lines for internal stakeholders
• Financial Planning: Partner with FP&A leadership and key stakeholders to produce weekly, monthly, annual and multi-year financial forecasts that drive results in support our company objectives
• P&L Review: Support monthly P&L review process that includes explaining variances to plan, providing insight on current and expected trends, and identifying areas of risk and opportunities
• Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks; provide insights into key performance metrics and financial ratios
• Acquire and maintain a thorough understanding of business issues, strategies and risks and profitability opportunities
• Collaborate with our Operations, Finance and Accounting teams to help develop strategies, build insightful forecasting and reporting and drive impactful insights for key leaders
• Build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with senior leadership
• Provide ad-hoc analysis and lead various other reporting projects including decision support, metrics and analytics
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics required
• A minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of financial planning and analysis experience
• Working knowledge of financial accounting and reporting concepts required
• You enjoy problem solving - digging into complex and ambiguous data sets and synthesizing information into a digestible format for executives/other stakeholders
• Financial modeling expertise; advanced competency in Excel and proficient with other Microsoft Office suite products (e.g., Outlook, One Note, Word, and PowerPoint)
• Effective verbal and written communications, including active listening skills, problem solving skills and presentation skills
• Strong analytical, problem identification and problem-solving skills
• Excellent documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis
• Organized and extremely detail-oriented
• Holds self and others accountable for ensuring that results are achieved; seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision; takes action on items beyond formal job responsibility; sets high expectations for self and others
• Ability to work independently, with considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgment
• Ability to maintain composure under pressure while meeting multiple deadlines and priorities
