Job Overview
As a member of the Principal Gifts Team within Georgetown University's Office of Advancement, the Assistant Director of Principal Gifts assists in the planning and implementation of strategies for Georgetown's principal and transformative giving program with a group of fundraising and engagement teams within Advancement.
The Assistant Director acts as a consultant on projects and requests related to these internal clients as well as a coordinator for the principal and transformative gifts program. In partnership with these clients and other teams within Campaign Operations, the Assistant Director is responsible for fostering the principal gift pipeline through each optimized major gift officer portfolio to support development and Advancement objectives.
The Assistant Director tracks principal and transformative campaign milestones and works with partners across Advancement in the projection of fiscal and campaign objectives for principal and transformative gifts. They assist in the planning and implementation of strategy for the University's top prospects.
The Principal & Transformative Gifts Program at Georgetown University's Office of Advancement is a centralized program focused on cultivating long-term relationships with prospective donors who have the capacity to make principal ($5M ) and transformative ($10M ) gifts, leveraging the relationships and vision of university leaders to secure support for strategic university priorities. This unit within the Principal and Donor Engagement team is responsible for driving donor-centric gift strategies that bridge external interests with institutional priorities and allow our donors and prospective donors to deepen their philanthropic partnership with Georgetown.
Work Interactions
The Assistant Director reports to the Assistant Vice President, Principal and Donor Engagement. They work closely with the following staff (but not exclusively): Presidential and Principal Engagement team members, development officers and associates, campaign operations team members, donor relations, stewardship, and campaign research and analytics team.
All teams within Advancement and various university departments; top-level university alumni, parent, and friend donors and volunteers.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
1 to 3 years of experience in prospect development, campaign planning, frontline fundraising, or equivalent experience in analytical research or another information-related field within an academic, nonprofit, or corporate environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Background work in data visualization and having an understanding of key data visualization concepts
Experience with relational/CRM databases (particularly Salesforce) to perform searches and create reports and dashboards
Excellent verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate the ability to synthesize material from multiple sources into coherent and accurate presentations
Strong ability to triage, set priorities, and manage conflicting goals and agendas
Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills and attention to detail
Excellent project management skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and use good judgment when working with sensitive information
