GAP Solutions, Inc. is Hiring a HR Generalist I Near Herndon, VA

Provide human resources oversight. Implements human resources programs by providing human resources services, including employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training and development, records management, safety and health, employee relations and retention, AA/EEO compliance, and completing personnel transactions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains employee handbook and policies and procedures manual.
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Assist with creating employee records and updating employee records for personnel and security files.
  • Create employee profiles within HRIS, process employee change requests, process employee terminations with HRIS.
  • Assign new hire onboarding tasks within HRIS and monitor for completion
  • Responsible for creating HR reports including but not limited to new hires, terminations, promotions, and transfers.
  • Presents training that addresses HR policies and procedures.
  • Process requests such as educational assistance, recognition awards, etc.
  • Administers leave programs such as Personal Leave, FMLA, Military, disability, ADA and worker’s compensation
  • Supports benefits administration to include communication of benefit information to employees, reviewing and approving change requests, and participation in annual open enrollment
  • Assists with various compliance reporting as assigned
  • Serves as a point of contact for employees with regard to company policy information and interpretation.
  • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
  • Ensures integrity of HRIS from initial entry through life-cycle of employees.
  • Conduct new-employee orientations; conduct outplacement counseling and exit interviewing.
  • Provide human resources support to managers in handling employee relations issues.
  • Plan company sponsored events (holiday parties, volunteering opportunities, etc.)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and one year of experience in a human resource function
    • Will consider a HS Diploma with four years of experience in a human resources function.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of personnel administration
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations (FMLA, USERRA, SCA, etc.)
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and respond accurately to simultaneous tasking.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
  • Outstanding organizational capabilities to manage multiple tasks with varying deadlines
  • Experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Experience working in a government contracting environment highly preferred.
  • PHR certification preferred.
