NSS is Hiring a HR Generalist Near Herndon, VA

Currently seeking an experienced HR Generalist for a full time and permanent position with a leading developer in laser and electro-optic systems within the aerospace community. We work with NASA, DOD and more! We are STABLE and LONG TERM great benefits! 30 years in the business! This is a direct and permanent position. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our headquarters division onsite in Herndon, VA (this is NOT a remote position! Our engineers are onsite every day doing amazing things for space and we need additional and dedicated HR staff onsite to assist!)As the HR Generalist, you will play a vital role in various functions of the Human Resource department, including but not limited to: performance management, talent management, compensation, benefits administration, employee relations, etc. We are looking for a bit of a hybrid who enjoys all facets of Human Resources! We are a small team and looking to continue to foster a collaborative and employee driven environment!!!Job Overview:
  • Manage performance appraisal process and work one-on-one with managers and employees to assist with coaching, goal setting, career development, and disciplinary actions.
  • Align HR processes and programs to support overall business plans and strategies.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and programs to meet specific business and development needs.
  • Assist with the administration of various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel.
  • Work with offsite PM's on HR related issues and assist offsite personnel at multiple locations.
  • Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Assist with recruitment efforts.
  • Assist with benefits administration.
  • Assist with employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviewing.
  • Assist in the evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of the department in relation to established goals.
  • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in the efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Maintain human resource information system records and compile reports from the database.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Experience:
  • US Citizenship REQUIRED. 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Human Resources or a similar role
  • Working knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Proficiency in HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) and MS Office Suite
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Experience with benefits administration.
  • Capability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace environment.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred.
  • Experience in conducting employee onboarding and exit interviews.
  • Ability to develop and implement HR policies and procedures.
  • Familiarity with performance management systems
  • Capacity to adapt to a fast-paced and changing work environment.
