TITLE: Cooper House Administrator
REPORTS TO: The Chief Program Officer
STATUS: Full-time/Exempt (salaried)

DOORWAYS, a nationally-known interfaith non-profit, empowers clients to overcome poverty, HIV, and homelessness by providing numerous supportive services that improve Housing, Health and Hope. As a bi-state agency with broad impact, we assist nearly 3,500 clients annually. On the heels of opening our innovative 3-acre $40M Jefferson Ave. Campus, we are poised to expand our programming to improve service provision, while taking the organization to new heights.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Greatly strengthen our focus on person-centered care to create a home-like environment and empower our residents. Work with the social services staff and Director of Nursing on admission and discharge planning of residents. Be proactive and seek out inventive ways to ensure occupancy rate of Care Facility remains high at all times. Follow a Housing First Model as closely as possible while understanding that 24-hour protective oversight is the main objective. Conduct interviews with staff, residents, and families as necessary and in a private setting. Coordinate staff activities during the survey (inspections) process conducted by authorized government agencies. Assist in the development of the facility’s budget and monitor compliance with established budgetary guidelines. Review policies and procedures, at least annually, and provide recommended changes to DOORWAYS’ Chief Program Officer. Develop and maintain an excellent working relationship among departments within the facility and outside community health, welfare and social agencies, to assure the social service programs can meet the needs of the residents. Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility. Oversee the facility’s department supervisors (dietary, nursing and social services) and conduct staff meetings, department head meetings, individual meetings and 1:1 meetings with management team. Work in conjunction with Grant Administrators to oversee management of Department grants. Oversee compliance of Medicaid Waiver program for collections of resident funding.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The Administrator is on-call 24/7 whenever major issues arise. The typical schedule for this position is 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. The Administrator works on-site and will have little if any remote work. The Administrator will also experience the following: Involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances. Is subject at times to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, etc. Is willing to work beyond normal working hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A current Missouri license as a Residential Care Administrator (RCAL). A bachelor’s degree in health care sciences, business administration or some related field preferred. Three-plus years’ experience as an Administrator in a long term care facility or five years’ managerial experience in a healthcare setting. Experience working with HIV/AIDS, mental illness, homelessness and health care is preferred.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
Clear understanding of HUD grants, Medicaid and other government and/or private funding sources. Must be able to read, write and speak the English language in an understandable manner. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the public. Must have leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise a diverse professional and non-professional personnel. Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
