KCI Construction is Hiring a Payroll Administrator Near St. Louis, MO

Purpose: The Payroll Administrator is responsible for all aspects of the company's weekly payroll processing, including journal entries and reconciliation of accounts related to payroll. Additionally, this position may be called upon to perform a variety of other administrative and accounting functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll for non-union employees with weekly pay cycles. (Back up person for union payroll)
  • Research and resolve payroll-related questions, concerns, and problems for employees.
  • Processes "off cycle" payroll checks, paycheck corrections/reversals, layoffs, terminations, auto allowances, tax adjustments and handle retroactive calculations and payments, as appropriate.
  • Process I-9 verifications utilizing E-Verify.
  • Set up new employees in payroll system; report new hires to Missouri Social Services.
  • Provide data for MoDOT audits, i.e., update new hire log with minority and female percentages, update list of employment, etc.
  • Process garnishments due to child support, IRS, court orders, etc.
  • Process and balance 401K payments.
  • Generate KCI weekly certified payroll report, per owner's specification, check for compliance.
  • Prepare monthly workforce reports for all federally funded projects. Data should include KCI monthly percentages, project-to-date percentages, and consolidated reporting with total project numbers, including subcontractor data.
  • Prepare and submit monthly reporting of wages and hours to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
  • Generate W-2 and other documents for employees as required by federal, state and local regulations. Electronically transmit form W-3 annually.
  • Year-end form 1095-C mailing.
  • Provide general administrative support as needed, i.e., order office supplies, receive packages, answer phone calls, assist office guests, etc.
  • As required, submit monthly OJT reports with dates and numbers of hours trained.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • At least three years of payroll experience is required, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in payroll processing and accounting software.
  • Organized and able to maintain accurate documentation.
  • Ability to make independent decisions within accepted policy/procedural guidelines.
  • Develops courteous and supportive relationships with internal customers.
  • Dependable; reliable; accurate.
  • Flexible; adapts to changing situations.

  • Work is normally performed in a typical office environment.
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Limited exposure to physical risk.
  • The noise level in the office environment is usually quiet.
