Position Overview: As the Controller at Corey Construction Commercial Services, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations, project accounting, cost control, reporting and analysis, strategic planning, compliance, and more. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong financial acumen, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record in the construction industry.

1. Lead the financial management of the company, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
2. Collaborate with project managers on project accounting, tracking costs, and providing financial insights for decision-making.
3. Implement cost control measures to optimize project profitability and conduct regular cost reviews.
4. Prepare and analyze financial reports, providing insights for strategic decision-making.
5. Contribute to the development of long-term financial strategies and business plans.
6. Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and industry-specific requirements.
7. Coordinate tax planning and compliance efforts with external tax advisors.
8. Establish and maintain strong internal controls and conduct periodic internal audits.
9. Oversee technology and systems integration to enhance financial processes.
10. Collaborate with operations to align financial goals with operational strategies.
11. Provide financial oversight for the service and repair division, identifying opportunities for growth and efficiency.
12. Lead and develop the finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Oversee the posting and reconciliation of accounts payable and receivable.
• Perform month-end and year-end close processes.
• Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Consolidate financial statements and make eliminations as appropriate.
• Participate in financial standards setting and the forecast process.
• Support the creation of operating budgets and review budget versus actual.
• Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results.
• Analyze financial information and summarize financial status.
• Identify errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending.
• Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
• Manage accounting assistants and bookkeepers.
• Provide input into the department's goal-setting process.
• Oversee bank reconciliations.
• Monthly closings, accruals, cash receipts, collections.
• Oversee the filing of Demand letters and liens on properties.
• Monitor cash flow and intercompany invoicing.
• Handle prequalification applications and vendor reconciliations monthly for closing.
• Prepare annual 1099s.
• Oversee credit cards (Chase, Home Depot, WEX, and Fuelman).
• Manage weekly CMG sub payroll fee.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA designation preferred.
• Proven experience as a Controller in the construction industry.
• Strong understanding of project accounting and cost control.
• Excellent analytical and strategic planning skills.
• Knowledge of financial regulations, compliance, and tax planning.
• Leadership experience with the ability to mentor and develop a finance team.
• Proficiency in financial software and systems.
