Founded in New York City in 1926 by American educators John Dewey, Paul Monroe, and Chinese scholars Hu Shi (胡適) and Kuo Ping-Wen (郭秉文), China Institute in America is an internationally-renowned U.S. nonprofit organization dedicated to deepening the world’s understanding of China through programs in art, business, cuisine, culture, and education.
About the Role:
The Program Coordinator will help the programs team in planning, managing, implementing and strategizing various programs. This position is a vital part of the team in carrying out robust programs to further China Institute’s mission and influence. The candidate should have solid experience in a non-profit environment and the ability to contribute to China Institute’s growth. The Program Coordinator should be a self-starter who could think proactively, find ways to improve things and solve problems while being hands-on and detail oriented. S/he will also support the China Institute Next Gen x Serica (CINGS).
Responsibilities
- Assist the programs team in planning and implementation of all programs.
- Help to develop materials related to programs, including program descriptions, program flyers and marketing materials.
- Manage Eventbrite and Zoom Webinars.
- Manage program logistics, tech support, payments, data tracking, budget and expenses tracking.
- Help to strategize with the team to plan for future programs and conduct research on potential topics and speakers.
- Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and progress.
- Provide administrative support to the team.
- Provide support to China Institute Next Gen x Serica (CINGS).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2 years of professional program and event management experience, preferably in non-profit organizations.
- Experience in planning and implementing programs and events.
- High level organization and attention to detail.
- Self-starter, highly motivated, ability to think proactively and willingness to solve problems.
- Experience in creating and managing marketing content to promote events on various platforms a plus.
- Interest and background in China studies and Chinese language highly preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and strong writing skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
