WBS, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Learning and Development Specialist in our Chicago, Illinois location. This position is in person.

Job Summary

The Learning and Development Specialist (Work Methods and Development Consultant) is responsible for ensuring completion of training and OQ (operator qualification) programs through scheduling, program oversight, and data reviews. Analyzes various data sources to identify program effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities. Develops and updates training documentation as needed to ensure compliance with regulations, meet safety and operational needs and meets or exceeds industry standards.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain and administer various department training and OQ programs including utilizing company data management systems for record maintenance. This may include assisting with training
  • Responsible for department scheduling including coordinating with shops on training and requalification programs and managing Instructor schedules
  • Responsible for maintenance of company OQ program including data requests, requesting and reviewing contractor records, proctoring OQ written exams, and preparing necessary documentation
  • Analyze performance and evaluation data to determine effectiveness of training and drive changes to training material and course design
  • Identify improvement opportunities (e.g. productivity, quality, efficiency, cost, cycle time, and workflow and customer satisfaction) within the organization/ department/work unit
  • Point of contact with Standards and Compliance groups to ensure training materials and evaluations align with company procedures
  • Maintain and proactively expand relationships with a variety of business unit, organizational, and union constituencies
  • Research and evaluate emerging instructional technologies and methods and recommend changes to curricula or delivery methods

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2-3 years' operations or relevant experience. In lieu of operations experience, a Bachelor's Degree is required and a minimum of 2-3 years' experience in teaching/training
  • Strong analysis, decision making and problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to work as part of a team and interact effectively with others
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple tasks under time constraints
  • Experience working with project management methodology beneficial
  • Proficient in standard office software (MS Excel, Visio, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Dedicates required time and energy to overcome obstacles to completing tasks and assignments
  • Seeks and uses feedback and other sources of information to identify appropriate areas for learning
  • Understanding of basic adult learning concepts and practices beneficial
  • Ability to perform responsibilities identified in Associate Work Methods and Development Consultant Position

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferred, in Instructional Design, Adult Education, or any technical based discipline
  • Experience with a learning management system
  • Experience data analysis
