San FranciscoThe Director of Operations (DO) provides leadership and operational oversight of operational functions for CCA's San Francisco campus (excluding student housing). This position collaborates daily with the Director of Facilities (DOF) in maintaining CCA's buildings and grounds. The DO oversees necessary vendor services, coordinates sustainability, general and preventive maintenance and related programs with the DOF and provides oversight and support for events and campus programming.
Under the direction of a Senior Vice President, Vice President, or Associate Vice President, the DO provides input on long term facilities maintenance programming, renewal and upgrades, and collaborates across the College to ensure success.
The DO has experience working with and managing Architects and Engineers, General Contractors and their subs (including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, fire sprinkler and others) to design, permit, implement, and successfully complete capital projects.
The DO provides mentorship and supervision to the Facilities and Operations staff and will collaborate regularly with other CCA departments, academic leadership, faculty, and classified professional staff, to ensure the consistent delivery of operational services in support of the academic mission of CCA.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:Leadership and Administration - 20% of time- Provides leadership and operational oversight of college operations. Continually assesses department operations for opportunities for continued professionalization and improvement.
- Provides leadership across the organization to build and maintain professional, consistent, client-centered operations team.
- Develops and manages project budgets in support of department goals.
- Provides regular supervision to facilities staff.
- Works with Business Services on procurement, contracting, and other related services.
- Reviews and updates policies and procedures.
- Contributes to campus planning initiatives.
- Additional duties as required.
Core Operational Responsibilities - 60% of time- Coordinates work with the DFO and facilities team, including contracted service providers. Coordinates and schedules maintenance projects, tracking and monitoring progr
- Communicate, collaborate with, and support colleagues in collegial environment.
- Ensure that SVP, VP and/or AVP are adequately informed of all ongoing activities.
- Prioritize service requests and integrate those requests into regular preventative maintenance planning.
- Assist in annual budget process, requesting adequate operational and project funds to support the mission of the college.
- Tracks and monitors progress of team, and the operational services provided. Incorporate client and manager feedback into performance of own work and provide feedback to direct reports to support their professional growth.
- Directly manage short term and long-term maintenance, renewal and renovation, and/or design and construction projects.
- Support and coordinate work with Studio Operations staff in the safe operation of shops and specialized equipment.
- Provide input to architects and engineers in the design of summer projects, small capital projects, and related projects.
Event and Campus Programming Support - 10% of time- Provide operational support to curricular and extracurricular programming and campus events.
- Coordinate with the Advancement Office, consulting event planners, Auxiliary Services, Marketing and Communications, Facilities Technicians and others, to sponsor well organized, safe, and successful events.
- Communicate CCA policies and guidelines to guests, vendors, staff, and others to ensure that CCA they are followed.
- Work with Student Affairs, Advancement, and others to develop event schedules and staffing plans to ensure the success of an event.
- Coordinate with General Contractor and others to ensure that construction activities are managed during the event.
Environmental Health & Safety - 10% of time- Work with SVP, VP, AVP or CCA's Risk Manager or Insurance Broker to ensure the safe operation of the college
- Consult with Facility and Studio Operations leadership to develop or revise operating plans and processes to ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines.
- Collaborate with other operational colleagues on the development of appropriate emergency response, hazardous materials mitigation, and business continuity plans.
- Participate in campus emergency preparedness activities.
- Participate in appropriate EH & S training.
- Additional duties as required in support of department or college goals and objectives.
- Sustainability. Support sustainability and environmentally-friendly practices across the college.
- Works with various departments throughout CCA to provide support for sustainable initiatives.
- Adopt environmentally friendly operational practices including improvements to the products and materials purchased, implementing green purchasing practices, and oversight of communication of green facilities initiatives.
- Oversee energy and water usage across campus and coordinate work with DFO to optimize efficiencies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:- BA degree from a college or university, preferably in architecture and engineering, organizational behavior and leadership, or a closely related field. At least 10 years of combined experience in construction project management, facilities management, operations management, or equivalent function that demonstrates the ability to perform the responsibilities of the job.
- Experience directing and coordinating staff to plan, organize, and complete projects. Ability to remain flexible and calm when circumstances change. The ideal candidate will have experience managing a range of duties and responsibilities while maintaining a consistent, professional and service oriented demeanor.
- Have knowledge of best practices in operations, facilities, and/or construction management. The ideal candidate will have existing relationships with builders and other operational service providers that can assist in problem solving, as well as an understanding of commercial building systems, materials, and project implementation procedures. Familiar with relevant software tools, including the G-Suite, MS Word and Excel, and AutoCAD.
- Ability to work in a culturally competent manner. The ideal candidate has experience working in higher education, non-profit or arts-based environments and have the ability to work across all levels of an organization and have an understanding of shared governance.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:- The compensation for this position is $125,000 annually.

CCA covers an average of 91% of the medical plan cost for the employee only and an average of 82% for employees with dependents. WORK SCHEDULE:- CCA considers a full-time work week to be 37.5 hours per week. The Director of Operations is required to work on campus a minimum of four (4) days per week.
