Our client is a very well-established and growing Lifting and Rigging Equipment fabricator and distributor serving the Construction, Manufacturing, Transportation, and Energy sectors throughout Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky. They are seeking a well-rounded, dedicated leader to serve as a Branch Manager / Operations Manager in a new location in the Columbus market. This position will oversee all aspects of management and business activities at the designated site to ensure the branch is profitably and ethically supplying quality products and services to their valuable customers. This is a salaried position with annual bonus potential.
PRINCIPLE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
General
· Direct all operational aspects including distribution operation, customer service, human resources, administration, and sales.
· Share knowledge with other branches and headquarters on effective practices, competitive intelligence, business opportunities and needs.
Finance
· Working with Leadership to develop and meet budget & financial objectives.
Operations
· Coordinate operations with Shop Manager, Customer Service Manager, and staff to fulfill operational needs (Production, Quality, Inventory Control, Sales and Services).
· Oversee that all facets of the Quality Manual and Training Manual are being carried out including Quality Assurance Policy, Complaint Resolution, Recall Procedures, Document Control, and Defect Quarantine Policy.
Human Resources
· Assist in the recruitment and retention of staff for the location.
· Ensure employee training is completed according to the prescribed schedule from Human Resources.
· Complete quarterly conversations and annual evaluations with all direct reports. Ensure conversations and evaluations are completed with all branch employees.
· Work with appropriate personnel to handle all employee relations issues and concerns.
· Oversee maintenance of employee files keeping appropriate documentation, training checklists, employee manual signoffs, etc.
· Manage Payroll Activities.
· Manage Worker’s Comp claims and proceedings:
· Work with human resources to manage all workers’ compensation claims and necessary recordkeeping (OSHA 300, 300A & 301).
Customer Service
· Oversee receipt of orders from customers via counter sales and/or inbound telephone or email.
· Develop Strong relationship with Sales Manager and Sales Team member(s) to exceed customer needs and expectations.
· Oversee sales activities regarding pricing, order write up, complaints, and special circumstances that may arise.
· Assess local market conditions and identify sales opportunities. Communicate Sales opportunities with Sales Team.
· Manage all Returned Goods for Credit and Documentation.
· Maintain relationship with vendors to stay abreast on product information / developments.
· Report any complaints or problems to Director of Operations and Quality.
Maintenance
· Equipment – Shop equipment needs of the company are being handled in timely and efficient manner with recorded documentation.
· Building – Coordinate building maintenance such as lawn / landscaping care, parking lot, lighting, HVAC, security and miscellaneous building maintenance.
Inventory
· Lead maintenance of adequate inventory levels.
· Assist in planning and coordination with periodic and annual physical inventory audit.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Work experience
· 5 years in a similar industry
· 5 years of experience in managing teams is preferred, but will consider candidates from similar industries looking to progress in their careers. Attitude, dedication, and customer service are more important than management experience.
