SUMMARY: Our team is looking for an energetic and organized General Accounting Manager who will primarily be responsible for supervising the accounts payable and accounts receivable staff as well as assisting with monthly and quarterly accounting close processes. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about problem solving and is detail oriented. The role requires a candidate with superior communications skills as correspondence with several disciplines within Axiom is required. The General Accounting Manager will report to Axiom’s Assistant Controller.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Facilitate accurate closing of monthly and quarterly accounting results. 
• Oversee the monthly close calendar and ensure that everything closes as scheduled.
• Correspond with Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), and department heads for needed changes as well as provide the status of the monthly close.
• Manage change requests from departments based on findings from departmental reviews. Find and fix the root cause of the issue to drive consistency to all future periods.
• Payroll accounting (in coordination with Human Resources) including review of payroll cost at project and departmental levels.
• Work with ERP (Cost Point) Process Improvement team to recommend and help facilitate changes and improvements to the Cost Point ERP.
• Facilitate and train the accounting group on the new process improvements and help drive consistency in the use of the ERP system .
• Work extensively with department analysts, procurement, material planning and fixed asset departments to recommend project and account coding. This role is specifically focused on accurate and consistent departmental level reports as opposed to the broader requirement at the financial statement line-item level.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting
• 7 years of experience in progressive accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience and familiarity in government contracting
• Aerospace industry experience strongly desired
• CPA preferred (not required)

Skills

• Possess strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Expert in Microsoft Office including use of Pivot Tables (Power BI is a plus)
• Familiarity with US GAAP and understanding of principal financial statements.
• Experience working with an ERP-based system required as prerequisite (Deltek Costpoint is a plus)
• Clear, thoughtful communication (both written and oral)
