Summary

The Accounting Manager is responsible for supervising the corporate accounting staff and ensuring all accounting policies are implemented correctly. This position is also responsible for all necessary training and staff development.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure all accounting activities follow a monthly close schedule.
• Assist with the creation and implementation of internal controls and processes to ensure dependable financials.
• Assist shops with financial transactions associated with daily activities.
• Update and reconcile all SMEG bank accounts.
• Manage the Parts Inventory Process
• Close all truck sales and post the related accounting transaction.
• Maintain vehicle inventory accounts, customer deposits and prepaid accounts.
• Assist accounting staff with daily accounting functions.
• Maintain all sales tax accounts and ensure all returns are filed timely.
• Assist with the implementation and evaluation of new systems and processes.
• Take an active role in the training and continuous development of accounting staff.
• Travel of approximately 10-15% is required for carrying out duties with primarily day trips but occasional overnights.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Corporate Accounting Staff of approximately 12 people.

Qualifications

Qualifications

• Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable
• Proficient in Excel and Word, 10-key by touch
• Possess strong organizational and time management skills
• Strong problem-solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills
• Thorough knowledge of applicable accounts receivable/general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts and corporate procedures
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Ability to interact with employees and customers in a professional manner

Education and/or Experience

• BBA in Accounting or similar degree
• 3 years accounting supervisory experience

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus with or without corrective lenses.
