Position Definition:
The Production Supervisor makes sure all aspects of a project are completed smoothly and on time. To make sure projects are done correctly and on time, Production Supervisors must have a strong knowledge of each task to provide technical knowledge to the technicians performing the work. In addition to planning projects, the Production Supervisors supervises the lower-level employees on a technical standpoint and defers any disciplinary action to the General Manager.
The Production Supervisor is the liaison between the production workers and the General Manager on technical issues. Although the General Manager is responsible for the entire manufacturing facility, the Production Supervisor is responsible for only the production, or assembly jobs where he is assigned. A Production Supervisor may be responsible for multiple work centers within a certain production line.
It is essential for the General Manager to relay the current manufacturing strategy to the Production Supervisor. In addition to production initiatives the Production Supervisor is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe working environment for his team. The Production Supervisor spends most of his time on the shop floor directing and working hands-on the projects he’s responsible for. Being accessible to the team at any given time for technical support or just lending a hand is key to the success of this role.
The Production Supervisor reports directly to the Executive Vice President EVP of Skeeter Brush Trucks but works closely with the EJ Metals General Manager on a day-to-day basis. This means that all project management is a collaboration between the General Manager and the Production Supervisor. They both report directly to the EVP of Skeeter Brush Trucks in their own individual capacity. Each one is responsible for their own deliverables as assigned by the EVP of Skeeter Brush Trucks. The EJ Metals General Manager is responsible for the digital workflow where the Production Supervisor is responsible for the physical workflow.
