Position Overview:

As a member of the Finance/Accounting team, the Senior Accountant will be reporting to the Vice President, Finance & Accounting. The Senior Accountant will perform intermediate level accounting tasks that will lead to a well-rounded accounting role. As an important contributor within a fast-paced company environment, this hands-on position requires a high attention to detail, superior communication skills, and the ability to work within a cross-functional team of professionals. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an entrepreneurial passion for renewable energy development and a desire to work with clients to transform the way they procure energy.

 Responsibilities

  • Perform cash reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial transactions.
  • Manage fixed assets by recording acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation expenses accurately.
  • Handle leases in compliance with ASC 842 by calculating and recording lease payments, amortization schedules, and lease liability.
  • Accrue property taxes, estimating tax liabilities, and ensuring timely and accurate accruals.
  • File state sales tax returns 
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliations to verify the accuracy of account balances, identify discrepancies, and resolve any outstanding issues.
  • Process and book travel and expense (T&E) reimbursements
  • Manage the accounting for asset retirement obligations (ARO).
  • Monitor and track dead deal costs by analyzing project expenses, determining appropriate treatment, and recording write-offs or capitalization as necessary.
  • Allocate storage costs to appropriate departments or projects based on usage and facilitate accurate cost allocation.
  • Monitor and reconcile inventory accounts by overseeing inventory counts, valuing inventory, and ensuring accurate recording of inventory-related transactions.
  • Record and amortize prepaid expenses, such as insurance premiums or service contracts, in accordance with accounting guidelines.
  • Manage work-in-progress (WIP) or uncompleted files by reviewing project costs, assessing completion rates, and accurately recording revenue and expenses.
  • Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process, which includes monthly financial close workbook preparation

 Qualifications

Must be passionate about the renewable energy business, hardworking and thrive in the fast pace of a rapidly growing company. In addition, the Senior Accountant must possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in accounting 
  • Minimum of 5 - 7 years of accounting experience 
  • Highly skilled in accounting related software and Microsoft Office
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the company
  • Ability to organize multiple streams of work, keeping things on track while consistently meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Location: New York/Hybrid (3 days each week in-person required: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) *Please note: Schedule subject to change at company's discretion. 

Compensation Range: 

The salary range for this position is: $100,000 - $130,000, plus individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications and location, and applicable employment laws.
