POSITION SUMMARY

Ancora is looking for a business intelligence and data insights professional to expand the firm’s research and analytical capabilities that support our Business Development and Operations teams. This person will support assessments of potential markets, anchor institutions, and projects in an effort to deeply understand our existing and future partnerships. This role will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting data that drives data-informed decisions across the organization. The role will be primarily internal facing, supporting teams across the firm. This person will be the first Analyst on the Business & Data Analytics team, which is expected to grow in the future, so they are expected to be a self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Acquire and evaluate both qualitative and quantitative data to assess the characteristics of potential markets, anchor institutions, and other investment opportunities that will drive the business forward and produce income-generating partnerships
• Create and frame questions for surveys that will provide desired insights, and then download and query collected data to identify key trends and actionable insights
• Collate and present findings and suggested next steps to management, internal stakeholders, and external investors through investment committee decks, institutional-level reports, and other assets
• Leverage subject matter expertise in the commercial real estate space to understand the market and foster relationships amongst potential stakeholders, brokers, and the local community

QUALIFICATIONS

• Subject matter expertise within the commercial real estate industry, with a preference for focus in higher education, technology-based economic development, or related fields
• 7 years of work experience in a business intelligence or related role involving data acquisition, modeling, and coding
• Ability to extract significant data (APIs) and analyze using statistical programming tools including R, Python, or similar
• Proficient user of Tableau, MS Power BI, MS Excel, or similar tools
• Familiarity with data sources including Pitchbook, Lightcast, Green Street, Placer.ai, or others
• Ability to work proactively, adjust priorities in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment, and deliver high quality work products in a timely manner
• Experience producing institutional-level reports and presentations for a variety of audiences
• High attention to detail with superior judgement when navigating complex data sets
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including familiarity with presenting to a management teams and investors, ability to collaborate across teams, and passion for interacting with other business units

• Demonstrated experience in supporting efforts to expand diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging

COMPENSATION

Compensation includes base salary, discretionary bonus, and incentives.
