Action Against Hunger is Hiring a Human Resources Administrator Near New York, NY

I. Job Summary

The Human Resource Administrator will provide overall HR support to the People Department. The role will work with employees throughout the organization, as well as with HR tools, HR databases and employee files. This role will assist with recruitment, onboarding, time and attendance, training and personnel filing, as well as answering HR staff inquiries and directing them to other members of the team as needed.

Purpose: To provide the People team with specialized confidential HR support to ensure all people priorities can be delivered on time and with quality.

Engagement: The HR Administrator works with all levels of employees within the organization as well as potential employees, employment agencies, external partners and consultants who work with HR on projects for Action Against Hunger. The HR Administrator is the initial point of contact with the People department, ensuring excellent customer service skills.

Delivery: The HR Administrator will support the areas of recruiting, onboarding, training, HR systems and metrics and personnel files.

II. Essential Job Duties

1. Recruitment and onboarding (40%)

  • Support the recruitment process by assisting with job postings, phone screens, scheduling, reference and background checks.
  • Preparation of offer letters.
  • Create personnel files for new hires in our HR systems.
  • Organize all onboarding for new hires: ensure new hires have desks, computers, and the onboarding. package information. Prepare schedule for all onboarding sessions.

2. HR Information systems and Information Management (40%)

  • Responsible for keeping personnel files up to date (New hires, terminations, promotions, title and supervisor changes, etc.).
  • Assist in the collection of midterm and annual performance review documents.
  • Fill the HR metrics data on time and prepare analytics as requested.
  • Lead the IM of the People space in NHF (restricted and public) so all our HR information is up to date.
  • Keep the organization chart up to date and available to staff.
  • Prepare visa and Letter of Employment to employees that requested and file them in their personnel files.
  • Be the point person for HR audits.

3. Staff development and compliance (20%):

  • Prepare reports from our LMS learn lab on required courses and follow up with employees to ensure 100% compliance.
  • Promote LMS for staff development.
  • Share with employees training opportunities from LMS or other online sources.

V. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resource management and/or business management.
  • 3 years of work experience in the HR field.
  • Non-profit humanitarian & development organization experience a plus.

VI. Required Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge and practical experience of human resources theory, rules and regulations.
  • Exceptional communication and writing skills with ability to interact tactfully and effectively.
  • A passion for excellence and desire to contribute to the growth of the organization.
  • Expert user of MS Office Suite, Share point and HRIS systems. Comfortable working with computers with minimal IT support.
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrable attention to detail.
  • Proactive individual who has a high level of integrity.
  • Ability to take initiative, prioritize and multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Experience working in an environment which requires a high level of flexibility
  • Genuine interest in and commitment to the humanitarian principles of Action Against Hunger
  • Must be authorized to work in the US if not US citizen
