Kalamazoo Regional Educational Services Agency is Hiring a Speech & Language Pathologist Near PORTAGE, MI

Division: Special Education

Position Type:

11 Month

Work Hours: M-F 8:00 - 4:00

(Job Grade: 17)

Summary: Specializes in assessment and treatment of speech and language problems, and engages in speech and language intervention services for students

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Reviews student files to obtain information prior to evaluation to determine appropriate tests and to ensure that adequate information is available.
  • Administers, scores, and interprets specialized hearing and speech tests.
  • Diagnoses and evaluates speech and language skills as related to educational factors and completes MET reports. Evaluates and monitors individuals.
  • Attends MET, IEP and/or IFSP meetings.
  • Develops and implements individualized plans for assigned students to meet individual needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Provides individual and small group speech and language intervention.
  • Reviews treatment plan, and assesses individual performance to modify, change, or write new programs.
  • Models language facilitation techniques in home, daycare, preschool and community sites, providing training on language learning activities.
  • Maintains records as required by law and administrative regulations.
  • Acts as consultant to educational, medical, and other professional groups.
  • Serves as consultant to classroom teachers to incorporate speech and language development activities into daily schedule.
  • Regular and consistent attendance

Must have knowledge of and comply with the policies and procedures contained in the Kalamazoo RESA handbook. 

Education and/or Experience:  

Master’s degree (M.A. or M.S.) in Speech and language. Preferred experience in Early Childhood setting. 

Certificates, License, Registration: 

Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from American Speech, Language and Hearing Association, license in Michigan.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
