Kalamazoo Regional Educational Services Agency is Hiring an Early Intervention and Special Services Coordinator Near Kalamazoo, MI

Summary:

The Coordinator provides direction and coordinates programs for students receiving KRESA D/HH and VI services that value diversity, equity, and inclusion. Through KRESA’s core values of collaboration, innovation, compassion, respect, and trustworthiness, the Coordinator will act as a positive role model for students, educators, and families.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Initiates and/or guides positive system changes and training practices
  • Serves as a school district liaison for D/HH and VI services
  • Regularly visits D/HH classrooms to offer coaching to teachers and staff
  • Regularly observes and collaborates with consultants
  • Recommends, organizes, and implements?professional development for staff
  • Supports, plans, and facilitates staff meetings
  • Insures communication with local district, parents and community agencies
  • Interprets laws, rules, and regulations to students, parents, and staff
  • Oversees collection of student information data for reporting
  • Coordinates change of placement for students transitioning across the continuum of special education services
  • Evaluates assigned staff
  • Supervise and evaluate instruction provided by staff
  • Monitor compliance with established practices and regulations
  • Monitors budget expenditures and advises Early Intervention and Special Services Administrator of needs
  • Attends and participates in Instructional Leadership Team and District Special Education Leader meetings
  • Participates in regular leadership meetings to support action-oriented communication, collaboration, work alignment, meeting preparation and planning for professional learning
  • Collaborates with Early Intervention and Special Services Administrator on continuous improvement process
  • Supports Early Intervention and Special Services Administrator with daily program needs (staffing, emergency situations, behavioral needs)
  • Regular and consistent attendance
  • Other duties as assigned.


Must have knowledge of and comply with the policies and procedures contained in the Kalamazoo RESA handbook.


Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in a Special Education related field. Master’s degree (M.A.) in Ed Leadership or equivalent related combination of experience and education preferred. Experience/background in deaf education and visual impairment preferred.


Certificates, License, Registration:

Eligible for temporary authorization as a Special Education Supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises employees assigned; Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include participation in interviewing, recommending the hiring and training of professional staff; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Physical Demands:

The noise level in the work environment is variable. Student behavior can be unpredictable and can create an environment with unexpected noises/vocalizations. This may include demonstration of physical or verbal threatening and aggression, depression, anxiety and/or violence.
