The Title IX Coordinator contributes to campus-wide diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in order to integrate Title IX into the larger campus context. The Title IX Coordinator works in collaboration with all divisions to coordinate the dissemination of information to students and employees about their rights and the courses of action available to them regarding discrimination based on sex and gender identity and acts of interpersonal and sexual violence. This role also collaborates with external community members such as local law enforcement, district attorney, and community non-profit advocacy agencies.
The Title IX Coordinator examines and implements innovative ways to ensure Title IX operations are culturally sensitive and inclusive.
The Title IX Coordinator ensures compliance with Federal regulations related to Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, VAWA, and the Clery Act and Section 129A and 129B of the NYS Education Law and has a responsibility to establish, enforce, and review policies in consultation with the Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer to maintain the safe and responsible conduct of the University. They have oversight of intakes and investigations of all complaints pertaining to reports of discrimination related to protected class (race/ethnicity, veteran status, sexual orientation, etc.), sex discrimination, and acts of interpersonal and sexual violence. They will analyze data from the biennial climate surveys to assess the rates, trends, or nature of sexual or gender misconduct in and around the University.
The position is housed in the President's Office and will supervise one part-time employee, the Harassment and Discrimination Investigator & Compliance Officer. They may be the first point of contact for incidents and should be accessible outside of normal business hours. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) position.

KEY RESPONSBILITIES
Reporting to the President, the successful candidate will:
Develop and conduct training on topics related to Title IX and also discrimination based on protected class, sex/gender discrimination, and sexual harassment
Conduct campus-wide surveys, analyze the data, and report it back to the campus
Provide effective supervision to the Harassment and Discrimination Investigator & Compliance Officer position. This is a shared position part-time between SUNY Fredonia and another SUNY institution. Will involve effective collaboration with the co-supervisor and effective oversight of those responsibilities as they pertain to SUNY Fredonia, which include compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act ("ADA") and affirmative action (and associated reporting requirements).
Work as necessary with the Student Conduct Office, University Police, Residence Life, Prevention, Advocacy and Wellness Services, Human Resources, and with external community partners such as the district attorney's office and local law enforcement
Conduct timely, confidential and compliance investigations of allegations of Title IX (sex/gender discrimination) and discrimination based on protected class membership on a college campus. Conduct initial investigations on reports, and, as appropriate, conduct full discrimination complaint investigations.
Conduct trauma-informed interviews
Manage caseloads with multiple deadlines and maintain confidential detailed records and convey relevant information in clearly written, concise reports
Liaise with legal representation as may be required in responsible areas
Work from a mindset informed by cultural competency, communicating effectively with individuals from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds
Apply best practices related to higher education laws and policy standards at both the state and federal levels
Interpret and apply requirements related to Title IX and non-discrimination laws and regulations
Respond to all complaints timely, appropriately and sensitivity to the nature of the complaint
Convey to reporting individuals information regarding available resources and reporting and resolution options
Coordinate and oversee Title IX compliance in relation to the University's athletic programs; interface with the Director of Athletics, Associate Athletic Director, their staff and outside consultants
Work with the Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer to develop and implement a long-term vision for the University around programs, services, education, and assessment of Title IX, VAWA, and NYS 129A &B programs and prevention efforts, including but not limited to discrimination, sexual harassment and sexual violence, dating and intimate partner violence and stalking
Regularly attend SUNY Title IX state-wide meetings and educational training programs to ensure compliance with Title IX investigative standards and continuously identifies and integrates best practices as they relate to Title IX processes.
Write grant proposals and research sources of external funding
Learn necessary software, including BI reporting, to be able to pull requisite data for use in reporting necessary for the office
Participate in committees and provide service to the department, college, university, and profession;
Be aware of, understand, and follow all university policies.

Interest in, and commitment to, community engagement.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree (preference will be given to degrees with clear relevance to the position, including but not limited to law, psychology, sociology, social work, education, and gender studies).
Investigative experience in such areas as student conduct, security, equal opportunity/affirmative action, human resources, or other related fields
Demonstrated experience of applying knowledge of Title IX regulations and/or other federal and state non-discrimination laws
Experience with supervision of staff.
Demonstrates commitment and ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and constituents and support of campus and Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in related field
Experience in a higher education setting
Title IX compliance experience
Experience with investigative and preventative techniques related to complaints of discrimination based on protected class (race/ethnicity, veteran status, sexual orientation, etc.) and sexual violence
Training in trauma-informed investigation techniques
Title IX related training or certification through a nationally recognized organization
Experience in a SUNY, public sector and/or unionized environment and familiarity with working in a union environment.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time, (1.0 FTE) Management Confidential position at a salary range of $70,000-$90,000, commensurate with experience.
