Our Network office is located at 401 W. 218th St., New York, NY 10034. Our Network team follows a hybrid work schedule: we work in-person from our office on Tuesday and Thursdays with optional remote days on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, if your team’s scope of work permits.
To achieve our vision, we are searching for a Controller who is a CPA with a Bachelor’s Degree and at least 7 years of experience with a proven record of accounting leadership and problem solving. In the Controller role at Zeta, you will lead the accounting team within Finance to ensure that Zeta has the financial freedom and flexibility to build a world-class, scaling organization and afford all the necessary resources for excellent programming for our students. The Finance and Accounting Team drives financial operations and strategies that ensure that Zeta is able to operate existing schools, open new schools, and continue to grow towards our biggest goals.
Responsibilities:
- Enhance, develop, and implement fiscal policies and procedures for the organization to ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies
- Coordinate with auditors conducting annual audits of our financial records
- Manage our accounting, purchasing, and payroll systems
- Oversee our per pupil invoicing and revenue collection efforts
- Prepare and supervise the preparation of financial reports
- Manage public and private grants in conjunction with our Outreach team
- Supervise staff accountants in reviewing, posting, and processing a variety of financial, payroll, and audit documents
- Manage public and private grants and ensure that our documentation of grant-related expenses is complete and in compliance with grant requirements
- Wear multiple hats as a part of a lean startup-up team, supporting the work of others on the team and taking on new projects and tasks as needed

We are hiring for immediate openings and onboarding on a rolling basis. The salary range for this position is between $125,000 and $150,000. New hires can expect to be brought into the organization at a salary at or near the start of the range, depending on relevant experience and internal equity. Compensation is based on our salary scales. This position is eligible to receive an annual discretionary, merit-based performance bonus.
