Overview:Our client is seeking a Controller due to retirement of the professional currently in the position. The person hired will have the benefit of working side by side with current Controller for a period of 6 months to 1 year to help facilitate successful knowledge transfer. Description:Supervise a staff of nine and manage day-to-day accounting and finance functions, involving• Accounts payable• Accounts receivable• Bank reconciliations • Billings and collections• Departmental file retention• Payroll• Preparation of information reports• Trust accountsDirectly responsible for:• General ledger accounting • Bank relationships and reporting • Budgeting• Month end close• Preparation of interim monthly and annual audited financial statements (including monthly calculation and distribution of profits to Equity Partners and monthly calculation of compensation to Contract Partners and contract Counsel)• Maintaining equity partners earnings accounts and fixed capital accounts• Management of accounting software • Liaison with independent auditors and tax accountants, including the preparation of auditors’ schedules and tax schedules• Tax reporting and filing, including federal and state returns of partnership income, commercial rent tax, payroll tax, sales and use tax, unincorporated business tax, MTA tax, 1099’s• Treasury function and cash flow• Other projects and assignments as requested by the Chief Financial Partner, Executive Committee and Managing Partner.
