HUMAN RESOURCE GENERALIST: Under the supervision of the Senior HR Officer, the HR Generalist, or Human Resource Generalist, is responsible for completing a variety of tasks to support the daily operations of the HR department. Their duties include comparing HR laws to current policies and procedures, drafting templates for HR documents and working with other members of the department to oversee the hiring and onboarding process for company employees.

JOB CHARACTERISTICS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This is a non-exempt position. The employee must have strong organizational and communication skills, as well as judgment, tact, and diplomacy in contacts with YDI employees, community residents, parents and local government agencies. Strict adherence is required to all regulations concerning confidentiality. Background check to include fingerprinting will be required. Physical is required upon hire and may be required intermittently. Travel may be required. and proof of satisfactory car insurance must be provided.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (NOT INCLUSIVE):
Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, educational leave, and work assessments. This may include CPR, first aid, safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental hiring managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
Implements new hire orientation processes.
Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to benefits and leave; performance and talent management; productivity, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Provides and/or oversees employee orientation on policies, benefits and programs, enrolls new employees in various benefit plans. Oversees the administration of medical, life, AD&D, Workers Compensation, and dental insurance, including employee enrollment, preparation of forms and follow-up compensation; employee assistance in resolution of problems; submittal of COBRA forms and other information required by payroll; auditing explanation of benefits for accuracy; and advising the Senior Human Resource Officer of problems or unusual situations as they occur. Ensure proper day-to-day administration of benefit changes and enrollments are processed by the HR/Payroll team.
Ensures Federal, State, and local compliance regarding record keeping and personnel matters.
Provides guidance to or assists subordinates in performing duties.
Reviews employee separation notices and related documentation and ensures exit interviews are conducted to determine reasons behind separations.
Handles workers' compensation claims, including accident investigations, and return-to-work.
Other duties as assigned.
