YMCA is Hiring a Human Resources Assistant Near Fort Lauderdale, FL

The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for the handling of various aspects of the Onboarding process. This may include pre-employment screening processes, meeting with new hires to collect necessary documents and / or entering new hire information into the HRIS / UKG system. In addition, this role is responsible for various administrative tasks.

Essential Functions / Job Duties: 

On-Boarding / Documents

  • Meets with new hires to collect pertinent documentation to follow YMCA of South Florida policies and regulatory agency guidelines within 3-5 business days of being cleared.
  • Works proactively to onboard new hires as quickly as possible (no more than 21 days) by monitoring their onboarding process, reaching out to the new hire, and updating disposition in UKG / HRIS and / or via e-mail.

Data Entry / File Management

  • Inputs new hire information into UKG / HRIS / Payroll system on daily basis, with minimal errors, ensuring the new hire is entered by biweekly payroll deadline.

Background Screening

  • Processes required background screenings and analyzes the results to determine if the new staff member can be cleared to work according to the YMCA of South Florida background screening policies and procedures.

All HR positions:

  • While completing tasks strives to provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the HR department including serving as back up to other Human Resources positions, as needed.
  • Works with HR Team members in a collaborative manner striving to clear new hires and volunteers in an efficient manner.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all staff information privy too.
  • Ensures compliance with all YMCA of South Florida policies, and regulatory agency guidelines.
  • Completes staff member employment verifications as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Profile:

    • Individual with outgoing, energetic and collaborative personality.
    • Analytical, organized, driven by attaining results.
    • Emotionally mature, able to initiate, conduct and navigate difficult conversations with individuals at all levels.

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities / Position Requirements:

    • High School Diploma, or GED required.
    • Human Resources Degree or Certification. 1-2 years of Human Resources experience in lieu of education. 
    • Must have high level of confidentiality, able to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
    • Must be detailed oriented and self-motivated.
    • Able to work independently and with minimal supervision.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to relate to individuals at all levels.
    • Excellent customer service skills.
    • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word & Excel)
    • Knowledge of HRIS systems such as UKG Pro, a plus.
    • Organized, detailed with excellent follow through.
    • Excellent analytical skills.
    • Bi-lingual (English & Spanish), preferred.

As a condition of employment and a Drug-Free Workplace you will be required to submit to and satisfactorily clear a thorough Level II fingerprinting background screening and drug test.

Failure to complete the drug test will automatically disqualify you from employment. Please note Medical Marijuana cards do not exempt you from successfully passing your drug test.
