We’re hiring a Gift Shop/Retail Manager to Live. Work. Explore. in Zion!

Job Summary:

Located in the lobby of Zion's historic Lodge, our gift shop is very high volume operation! The Retail Manager will help lead staff, train new employees, order merchandise, process inventory, and maintain store cleanliness and organization standards while ensuring great customer service efforts. 

The Details:
Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round

Pay: $50,000/annually plus FREE housing and meals 
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

• Through proper direction, control, coordination and delegation, puts into effect, the receiving, display and sale of gift store merchandise.
• Works with corporately prescribed vendors to ensure proper rack maintenance and replenishment of vendor service programs in the store.
• Leads the property ‘inventory control’ efforts to prevent losses and ensure the validity of information in Inventory Management systems and all Corporate and property related policies & procedures (receiving, transfers, pricing, cash handling and overall controls).
• Supervises and coordinates annual Physical Inventory.
• Coordinates and supervises the Retail warehouse function for the operation.
• Ensures the efficient and effective product merchandising using; implements corporate Visual Merchandising Standards.
• Monitor and ensure all necessary mark-up requirement compliance needs are met per NPS and corporate guidelines.
• Participates with the development of the annual final plan (budgets) in coordination with property Controller and GM.
• Manages and controls labor hours consistent with budget and in concert with business cycles.
• Displays merchandise in a neat and orderly manner as outlined on the floor plan.
• Order/transfer, receive and display merchandise from distribution center; keeping accurate records of ordering, receiving and inventories.
• Receives direct deliveries from suppliers and processes the necessary documentation.
• Schedules, supervises, reviews and disciplines gift shop personnel; coordinates counter and register work of the Sales Persons, maintaining store sales and displays.
• Determine weekly staff schedules to maintain payroll guidelines and posts at least three (3) days before start of new workweek.
• Turns in schedule adjustments, attendance notices and past week schedules to Operations Manager every Thursday.
• Provide timely Mid and Final Season written employee evaluations.
• Verify payroll hours on daily and weekly bases for all Retail personnel.

• Valid Drivers License required.
• At least three years of high volume Retail Management experience preferred. 
• Ability to perform all duties of a Manager & Sales Person and be able to assist staff in learning all required duties correctly.
• Basic knowledge and understanding of souvenirs, gifts, jewelry and other products suitable for sale within Utah Parks.
• Demonstrates a professional approach to sales techniques and all department procedures and encourages all staff members to maintain high department standards.
• Ability to manage sales and payroll budgets and maintain accurate inventory control with attention to pilferage prevention; strong analytical skills.
• Excellent communication skills and problem solving techniques.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to constantly stand, walk, handle, and reach.
• Must be able to frequently bend and occasionally climb, crawl, squat, or kneel
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to push and pull up to 100 pounds
