The Product Manager will set strategy, drive innovation, and manage profitability across their product categories. He/she must interact with all functional groups throughout the organization as the overall owner from concept inception all the way through commercial launch. We are looking for business leaders and creative problem solvers with excellent communication skills and a strong drive to succeed. Working with end users to discover their “pain points” and translating those into successful product solutions is at the core of what you will be doing at WernerCo. We believe our success starts and ends with the end user experience. A successful candidate will possess a unique blend of analytical and creative abilities. You will be the product category leader responsible for total portfolio management.
Business & Marketing Planning
Create strategies and associated plans on a 3 year and annual basis to drive business performance across the product portfolio(s). These plans are centered on end user, marketplace and competitive dynamics and allow the Product Manager to take a holistic view in building a comprehensive and creative plan of attack.
End User Understanding & Market Research
Gain end user insights through a suite of qualitative and quantitative market research methodologies that result in needs-based new product business cases and marketing plans. The Product Manager will develop end user segmentation to identify target markets and associated scale of opportunities.
Financial Goal Achievement
Stay focused on budgeted revenue and profitability targets and develop plans to grow market share through the introduction of new products and management of existing product portfolios. This individual should be a proactive and solution-oriented thinker that can establish plans and create clarity around obstacles presented.
Product Portfolio Management
Development of overall product portfolio strategy to include new product development roadmap, management of existing product portfolio, product mix to drive financial performance, pricing strategy, product launch execution, product line manufacturing and supply chain planning, and budget oversight.
Branding & Communication
As a steward of the brand, the Product Manager partners cross-functionally to build brand platforms and ensure all products and plans support the core brand positioning and messaging. This includes driving packaging design and implementation, creating integrated marketing campaigns, driving brand or end user promotions, and working with customer and channel marketing on customer marketing needs.
Customer Interaction & Distribution Channel Understanding
Drive development of channel and customer strategies in concert with sales and channel management through participation in product line reviews and customer planning meetings. Leverage POS data and marketplace intelligence to inform product strategies to grow market share. The Product Manager will be a key leader in optimizing our distribution presence and impact.
Business Analysis & Overall Portfolio Management
The Product Manager develops a command of the P&L, key business metrics, and the levers that drive this performance. Key decisions will be made through the creation and socialization of business cases that include ROI and justification for utilization of resources and/or capital. The Product Manager will have a strong command of market conditions and an understanding of impact on both current and future portfolio plans.
Leadership
The Product Manager will lead cross-functional team members and peers to achieve buy-in and drive execution of key initiatives. This individual will be a key influencer across the organization and will work effectively in a matrix environment cross-functionally.
