HEAD OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT – NORTH AMERICA
(COMPUTER SYSTEMS VALIDATION & LIFE SCIENCES CONSULTING SERVICES)

Valspec is looking for a head of business development for North America to join our company in providing top tier Computer Systems Lifecycle Services to our customers. We are motivated to identify those that share our passion and can mirror the level of energy we put into ensuring that we remain on the cutting edge of emerging technologies in the life sciences industry. We are seeking someone who understands the best way to develop strategic relationships with life sciences customers, specifically within BioPharma automation and validation.

We primarily support process control, manufacturing execution, laboratory, and ancillary computer systems such as building automation, environmental monitoring, and asset/maintenance management.

Someone who is interested in designing and executing a new kind of approach to discovering BioPharma technical services opportunities would be a great fit for this role. This is a brand-new opportunity within our organization.

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

  • Can identify and evangelize what they feel are the best new opportunities in the BioPharma computer systems automation and validation space.
  • Natural leader who is knowledgeable about customer needs and sincerely wants to help customers succeed in the life sciences arena.
  • Interested in building a technical services business and recommending what types of services we should be providing now, and in the future.
  • Takes an entrepreneurial approach and genuinely excited about deploying our already successful sales energy in new ways that help our customers succeed.
  • Not afraid to take risks.

Knowledge

  • Understand the Life Sciences industry and current trends as well as future direction of pharmaceutical manufacturing automation and validation.
  • Familiarity with capital projects and providing resource-based (staff augmentation) project solutions to customers
  • Exposure to GxP, ASTM-E2500, GAMP5, GAMP for MES, Quality by Design, etc.
  • Understand software utilized in the pharmaceutical manufacturing life sciences industry
  • Understand Valspec service offerings.
  • Understand current and potential future competition, and Valspec’s key strengths and areas for improvement in comparison.

 Business Development

  • Develop and deliver industry leading Life Sciences technology services and be a trusted advisor to the clients we serve.
  • Push the organization from a continuous improvement mindset so that Valspec stays ahead of the competition and acts as the top agent for our customers, and function as a change agent.
  • Stay abreast of all movement from the regulatory agencies or industry trends that will necessitate a need for Valspec to change from either a sales or operations perspective.

Sales/Account Management

  • Orchestrate the sales process from lead identification through close of the sales process. Must be able to add value to the sale and facilitate sales support/operations teams to develop the appropriate solution and close the business with the client.
  • Manage the overall relationship and communication with clients and have full command of their business model, application landscape and how Valspec’s services deliver value.
  • Work with the Valspec operations team to develop proposals to summarize the solution.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience in the field
  • Strategic life sciences business development experience
  • Experience discovering opportunities for software, equipment or services solutions in the life sciences industry
  • Experience with resource-based/staff augmentation solutions in addition to capital project offerings is preferred
  • Preferred exposure to related technology from Emerson, Siemens, Honeywell, Rockwell, Werum, OSI Soft, or Schneider for pilot to commercial scale processing
  • Capable of presenting to C-suite, procurement, and process automation engineers
  • Desire to scale a business and help design a roadmap for sales/business development deployment
