R0007211 USF Hilltop Campus Job Title: Marketing and Project Manager Job Summary: The Performing Arts Department, which offers the Performing Arts and Social Justice (PASJ) major, is seeking a strong leader and process oriented, self-starting team member to join our vibrant Department as Marketing and Project Manager. This person is highly detail-oriented but also able to see the big picture, and will engage in thoughtful process planning with a focus on inclusivity, equitability, and transparency. The Marketing and Project Manager for the Performing Arts Department reports directly to the Chair and provides key operational and administrative support for the production of the Performing Arts Department's public performance season. The Marketing and Project Manager provides leadership and exercises discretionary decision-making in determining how to utilize the resources of time, money, space, and people in the effective execution of 30 public performances and events annually. The Marketing and Project Manager's main responsibilities include: event management, budget management, production scheduling, coordination of the department's social media and marketing with adjunct non-teaching assignment and/or student worker support, supervision of technical contractors and student labor, and communication with faculty, staff, students, and the public about all aspects of Performing Arts Department performances and events. Provide leadership to the department in the planning and execution of 30 public performances and events annually, serving an audience of over 5,000 people.
With the Production Manager, determine resource needs for the overall performance season and make decisions about how to most effectively allocate resources.
Initiate, develop, and manage administrative systems and internal policies including:
Develop and manage production calendars (in collaboration with Production Manager, Chair, & Program Directors).
Develop and manage production budgets and academic budget of approximately $100K (in collaboration with Production Manager, Chair, & Program Directors).
Schedule and lead internal department meetings for public events (focused on budgeting, scheduling, staffing, and marketing).
With Production Manager, schedule and support production meetings for public events.
Hire, train, and supervise student staff, including social media coordinator and 1-3 graphic designers.
With Chair and Production Manager, initiate job listings for key contractor hires, schedule interviews, and oversee the onboarding process.
Execute contracting of guest artists and contractors for productions, and serve as primary support while contractors work at USF. Department typically employs 20-30 contractors annually.
Initiate, develop, and execute marketing plan and budget for promotion of department performances and events on and off campus, in consultation with Faculty Producers. Includes the design, production, and distribution of print and digital materials and social media postings, communication about events to key university personnel and faculty, all in a timely and professional manner.
Manage student designers and other workers for assistance with graphics and marketing.
With Production Manager, communicate with faculty, staff, students, USF administrators, guest artists, and technical contractors about all aspects of public events and performances.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in relevant area. Master's degree or professional experience in academic administration, marketing, and project management preferred.
Minimum of 2 years work experience supporting event production.
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, including through the use of social media.
Demonstrated success in overseeing complex administrative systems and adapting those systems or deploying new systems when needed.
Ability to understand and maintain budgets.
Working knowledge of Adobe's Creative Cloud, InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop preferred.
Excellent computer skills (word processing, database and web maintenance skills).
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience in project management / producing public events from beginning to end.
Knowledge of inner workings of performing arts productions.
Experience in strategic marketing of performances in print and on social media.
Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse student body, faculty and staff.
Strong equity lens, cultural humility and proven ability to work well in a diverse context.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Primarily office environment, as well as theatrical performance spaces
Ability to lift 40 lbs.
Ability to work nights and weekends during performance season.
