Description:

The Scholarship Coordinator is responsible for the college's internal and external scholarship opportunities and award processes. The coordinator will work with multiple units, including the office of Development, undergraduate and graduate Student Services, the college budget office, college academic departments, external entities and the office for Financial Aid and Scholarships to manage the award process from identification of award to the processing of scholarships to individual student accounts. Acts as liaison between faculty/staff, students, and other units to provide information and resources regarding scholarship activities and programs.
Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with the college Advancement team and the Director of Resource Planning and Management to identify and manage scholarships and awards from external donors and corporate partners, including review of available funds, coordinating with appropriate advancement staff to ensure that the donors’ intent in honored, and assist with follow up on ensuring that funds are available for awards to students.
  • Develop and manage the scholarship cycle from initial marketing through award disbursement and stewardship, including student application process, presenting workshops to students and management of marketing channels to students.
  • Create and communicate policies, procedures, deadlines, opportunities, to all stakeholders in the scholarship process.
  • Serves as chair of the college scholarship committee that reviews student applications, including coordinating application evaluation.
  • Supports students in identifying and preparing applications for external scholarship opportunities not managed by the college.
  • Works with Advancement to produce and provide stewardship information related to scholarships to support advancement efforts.
  • Works with the Office of Financial Aid to process scholarship awards made by the college, ensuring student eligibility and compliance with all relevant policies and procedures prior to award disbursement.
  • Reviews student progress and eligibility in order to adjust awards based on meeting the criteria for awards and any relevant university policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position. (Note: Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Education, or related field.
  • Three years experience in student affairs, student services or related field in higher education.
  • Knowledge of student scholarships and effective coordination of the processes involving multiple units.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a multi-layered business process.
  • Masters in a business field, business administration, education, public administration or related field.
  • Leadership experience in student services/development setting
  • Managing internal and external scholarship application and awarding practices in a higher education setting.
  • Knowledge of the advancement in higher education as it relates to working with donors.
  • Knowledge of higher education IT platforms to award scholarships accurately and effectively.
  • Record of accomplishment in student scholarship award process working with multiple stakeholders across units.
