What You’ll Do:

The key purpose for this role is to develop, mentor, manage, and lead a team of Brokerage customer sales representatives, to support them in achieving their defined objectives. Create a sense of partnership between the customer and USX Operations and Logistics teams. Assist in development of BDM’s customer acquisition skills including researching and qualifying new customers through phone, email, and web-based platforms.

  • Has a strong knowledge of the transportation industry, U.S. Xpress, and the transportation services U.S. Xpress can offer to customers.
  • Keeps updated with industry trends affecting customers to provide creative solutions to their transportation needs.
  • Utilizes an assortment of internal and external sales databases, lead generation tools, and networking sites including CRM, InsideView, Hoovers, and LinkedIn to identify, research, and qualify new customer prospects.
  • Transitions customer prospect accounts from qualifying status to soliciting status.
  • Develops cold call strategies and utilizes them to interact with and solicit prospects.
  • Interacts with U.S. Xpress Pricing Team to provide customers with freight rates for transportation needs or RFPs.
  • Collaborates regularly with Outside Sales Reps to understand market and customer specific dynamics within their assigned regions.
  • Solicits, communicates, and interacts with customer leads via phone, email, and social professional networking sites.
  • Exclusively sell our brokerage service offering to potential clients.
  • Continually solicits committed and non-committed freight orders from a designated and assigned customer base via a multitude of communication exchanges.
  • Develops and maintains strong customer relationships.
  • Interacts with U.S. Xpress Pricing Team to provide customers with freight rates for transportation needs or RFPs.
  • Provide the Capacity Buyers and Logistics Coordinators with all information needed to properly execute logistic plans as determined by the customer to ensure proper customer service is provided
  • Assists with seamless transition of trading accounts to operations team to be further developed.
  • Thoroughly notates all account activity in CRM, to include daily solicitation efforts with notes of relevant information from each customer call.
  • Mentor and develop BDM as well as Capacity Buyers on how to manage specific accounts.
  • Complete employee annual performance reviews and create goals that encourage employee development and department growth.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For:

Education

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Associate’s degree preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in the transportation industry or customer service required
  • Experience with customer service solicitation, inside sales, or sales preferred
  • Experience working in a deadline driven environment preferred

Skills/Certifications

  • Ability to multitask required
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Knowledge of Excel
  • Knowledge of the internet
  • Entrepreneurial spirit

Supervisory Responsibility: 6-8
