We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of the entire spectrum of the Business Development process and proposal lifecycle. They will demonstrate proficiency in the Shipley Process and have a proven track record of identifying lucrative opportunities, leading teams through the BD process, and ultimately securing new business. While adept at managing teams, the successful candidate will also possess the ability to actively contribute to all phases of the capture lifecycle.
Strategic Planning: Develop and execute strategic plans to expand our business offerings within existing customer bases and penetrate new markets.
Opportunity Identification: Identify and evaluate potential business opportunities aligned with company objectives. Conduct thorough market research and analysis to assess viability.
Proposal Development: Lead the development of winning proposals, ensuring adherence to established processes and timelines. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create compelling and competitive proposals.
Client Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing clients while establishing connections with potential clients. Understand client needs and effectively communicate company capabilities and value proposition.
Team Leadership: Provide leadership and guidance to business development teams throughout the entire BD process. Foster a collaborative and results-driven team culture.
Performance Monitoring: Track and analyze business development metrics and KPIs to measure performance and identify areas for improvement. Implement corrective actions as necessary to ensure targets are met.
Communication: Serve as a primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders. Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to ensure alignment and transparency.
Adherence to Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures throughout the business development process.
Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge. Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the business development function.
Proven experience in business development, with a focus on the entire proposal lifecycle.
Familiarity with the Shipley Process or similar business development methodologies.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
Strategic thinker with a proactive and results-oriented mindset.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Experience supporting business development within the Department of State is a plus.
