Personal Injury attorneys play a pivotal role in managing the entire litigation process, overseeing tasks from initial filing through to verdict. Their responsibilities extend to handling CPL (Commercial Property and Liability) cases, ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), and effectively preparing pre-litigation cases for legal proceedings. Reporting to supervising attorneys and/or the firm's partners, litigation attorneys hold supervisory roles over litigation assistants, paralegals, and CPL case managers. Key duties involve screening potential litigation clients, conducting case law research, and managing case records while liaising with insurance companies. They are actively engaged in drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery documents, as well as preparing for and participating in mediations under supervision. Negotiating settlements, interviewing and deposing witnesses, advocating in trials, and preparing clients for depositions are integral components of their role. Additionally, litigation attorneys provide counsel to clients, conduct investigations into coverage issues, and engage in medical management on behalf of clients. Throughout these multifaceted responsibilities, they maintain a collaborative approach, working closely with supervising attorneys to ensure the effective and comprehensive handling of litigation matters.
