Our client, a groundbreaking online marketplace, is seeking a highly skilled Accountant to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, particularly in start-up environments, and possess experience with inventory management. This role will be responsible for maintaining the financial health of multiple entities within their organization, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all accounting operations. Experience working with SAP Business One so similar is highly preferred. This role sits in office 5 days a week in their Westwood office.

Responsibilities:

Recording Financial Transactions

• Accurately recording and categorizing financial transactions, including sales, purchases, expenses, and payroll, using accounting software.
• Maintaining organized and up-to-date financial records to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

Preparing Financial Statements

• Generating timely and accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to provide insights into the company's financial performance.
• Analyzing financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.

Budgeting and Forecasting

• Assisting in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts based on historical data, market trends, and business objectives.
• Monitoring budget performance and providing analysis to support strategic decision-making by management.

Tax Planning and Compliance

• Ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations by preparing and filing tax returns accurately and on time.
• Providing tax planning advice to minimize tax liabilities and optimize the company's tax position.

Financial Analysis and Reporting

• Conducting financial analysis to assess the company's financial performance, profitability, and liquidity.
• Preparing financial reports and presentations for management, shareholders, and other stakeholders to facilitate decision-making.

Auditing and Compliance

• Participating in internal audits to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Assisting external auditors in conducting independent audits of financial statements.

Advisory Services

• Providing financial insights and recommendations to support strategic initiatives, such as mergers and acquisitions, investment opportunities, and cost-saving measures.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and implement financial strategies aligned with business objectives.

Risk Management

• Identifying financial risks and vulnerabilities, such as market risk, credit risk, and operational risk, and developing strategies to mitigate them.
• Monitoring and evaluating risk management processes and recommending improvements as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; Business background is acceptable.
• Proven experience in accounting, preferably in start-up environments.
• Expertise in inventory management and accounting software like QuickBooks, Fighbowl, or similar.
• Experience using SAP Business One or similar software.
• Familiarity with tax regulations and reporting requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle large transactions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Tech-savvy with a willingness to adopt new software and technology.
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently with minimal supervision.

Compensation: $100,000-$120,000 depending on experience
