Job Title: Billing Specialist I

Classification: Full Time, Non-Exempt

Job Description:

• Verifies accuracy of billing data, correcting any errors.
• Coordinates the insurance billing function of the business office, and sees to the proper application of patient, insurance, and other payments.
• Prepares weekly and monthly reports on third-party billings, accounts pending diagnoses, and late charges.
• Performs Billing Clerk and Cashier duties and coordinates and performs insurance follow-up procedures.
• Insurance Verification – online research or calls to payers to confirm coverage and benefits.
• Answering patient calls regarding account balances.
• As a specialist, be able to contribute to every stage of revenue cycle, from claim submission to denial management, to payment posting review and reporting.
• Familiarity with HIPPA and confidentiality requirements.
• Consistently meets established productivity, schedule adherence, and quality standards.
• Provide various clerical and administrative support services.
• Specialist will be crossed trained across multiple office responsibilities.
• Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Basic understanding of clerical and administrative procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to solve problems as they arise.
• Knowledge of CPT codes and medical terminology.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• (2) Years’ plus experience in medical billing

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $22.00 per hour
