Coordinate all activities as the liaison between Labor and the Maryland State Retirement Agency by interpreting laws, policies, rules, and regulations used in the administration of employee retirement plans. Attends training classes, seminars, and uses printed resources related to same.
This coordination requires daily response to employee inquiries concerning participation in the plans, eligibility requirements, applying for service and disability retirements, survivor benefits, proper enrollment, purchasing previous services, creditable service, beneficiaries, military service credits, accidental disability retirement, re-employment restrictions, explaining allowance options, tax liability and address changes.
Gives orientation to new employees concerning State Health Benefit plans.
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: One year of administrative staff or professional work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
