Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this full-time contractual position is to serve in the department’s effort to fulfill the Board’s mission of protecting the public. The Enforcement Coordinator will use independent judgment and analysis in interpreting and applying complex policies and procedures; provide oversight and support to the Investigative Unit. The position will be assigned administrative duties to aid investigators conducting investigations regarding the potential breach of standards of nursing practice as it relates to violations of the Nurse Practice Act. This position is not a supervisory role.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess:
  • Experience applying methods and procedures for the collection or organization, interpretation, and presentation of information
  • Knowledge of the basic uses and capabilities of computers, information technology and data security. · Experience adapting and apply the concepts and techniques of administrative analysis to the needs of specific projects
  • Experience identifying problem areas and recommending appropriate solutions based on logical consideration of alternatives
  • Experience preparing and presenting reports or recommendations clearly and concisely
  • Experience preparing accurate workflow charts, organization charts and other analytical aids
  • Experience establishing and maintaining effective relationships with co-workers and the public
  • Ability to plan, organize and multitask.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

Candidates may remain on the certified eligible list for a period of at least one year. The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
