The Department of Economic Security, Division of Benefits and Medical Eligibility is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Customer Service Representative at our Valleywise Health Medical Center location. This person will be a DES employee working on-site at the hospital location. This position is the first point of contact in the office. This position, under close supervision, perform customer service functions, such as greeting and directing the public. The individual will perform review, research and data entry of applications for programs governed by the Family Assistance Administration (FAA) such as Nutrition Assistance (NA) , Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Medical Assistance (MA). The person may open, date stamp and route mail, prepare and submit reports, prepare documents for imaging and translate or submit for translation when appropriate, and scan and upload into FAA's Document Management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Provide excellent customer service to the public by providing support and information.
• Provide support to office staff members.
• Obtain preliminary information for screening purposes.
• Update and input information into the automated system.
• Log and track information.
Knowledge of:
• Computer skills; Typing and data entry.
• Google suite applications.
• Office procedures and practices.
Skills in:
• Excellent listening, oral and written skills.
• Great communicator.
• Organization.
• Problem solving.
Ability to:
• Utilize a variety of office equipment.
• Navigate through multiple computer systems/programs.
• Multitask.
• Work in a fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
• At least one-year experience in a direct contact position working with or providing customer service, answering questions, providing general information, and resolving simple procedural issues.
• Bilingual
• If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, the following requirements apply: Driver’s License Requirements.
• Successfully pass background and reference check; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the Agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
• All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period.
