Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
This position is responsible for administrative and managerial work in planning, organizing, and directing the management and operations of parks. Work requires long range planning, development of maintenance priorities of the parks. Supervises, plans, directs, and manages the administration and operation of programs related to parks. Manage safety programs. Ensure excellent customer service is provided at all state parks properties. This position will support and implement the agencies Strategic Plan and Arizona Management System (AMS) goals, through the collection and organization of related data to generate regular reports.
Duties include, but not limited to:
• Continually review and improve park operations;
• Generate revenue through new properties, programs, and property enhancements;
• Establish and keep current Park Management Plans;
• Work with Partners and Concessionaires;
• Manage the agency's revenue generating programs;
• Set policy and formulate procedures for park operations;
• Demonstrate leadership and excellent customer service; and
• Produce Results.
• Administer, set goals, monitor, and evaluate productivity of Regional Managers, Operations Manager, and other park operations staff. Manage operating budgets for the operations section through a wide variety of funding sources. This position will support and implement the agencies Strategic Plan and Arizona Management System (AMS) goals, through the collection and organization of related data to generate regular reports.
• Select, recruit, and retain operational staff by establishing solid training to stabilize staff and coordinate specialized training for ASPT Law Enforcement personnel, EMT's, Volunteer Management, and other areas of specialization. Motivate staff to assure excellent customer service efficient and effective park operations, process improvement, high morale, excellent customer service efficient park operations.
• Collaborate and partner with Executive Staff and other sections to guide staff to agency objectives including lean management, revenue and visitation targets. Communicate effectively and timely with all Arizona State Parks and Trails staff. Manages and responds to state and local emergency situations in or near Arizona State Parks and Trails.
• Oversight of all risk management in the agency and specifically in park operations by implementing safety operations to meet OSHA and ADOA compliance standards, safety training, incident reporting to ADOA, asset insurance coverage, oversee claims handling, risk record keeping and reporting, ensuring correct indemnification language in insurance sections.
• Emergency Planning, executing General Safety & Security Plans, AG’s litigation and pre-claims management, Manages and responds to state and local emergency situations in or near Arizona State Parks and Trails.
• Confer and report regularly to Executive Staff on park management plans, concessionaires, and partnerships, Operations Section Policies and procedures. Ensure park operations goals are met by evaluating existing agency structure, targets, goals, and performance measures.
• Oversee the implementation and management of projects and processes with Point of Sales / Reservations System.
• Other duties as assigned as related to the position.

Prioritize tasks and delegate as required;
Mentor staff and develop staff;
Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing;
Mediate various issues with agency staff, agency support organizations, other agencies and organizations;
Travel state-wide;
Work nights, holidays and weekends and Obtain and maintain Arizona Drivers License.
Master's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in parks administration, resource management or related field. Three or more years of increasing responsible experience in parks and recreation. Ability to handle AD&D policy and train PM's and Volunteers Coordinators. Experience with HIPPA and privacy laws, OSHA 501, OSHA 511, CPRP (NRPA).
- Obtain and maintain Arizona Drivers License.
