Benefits
Federal, state, and local partners have committed to ending homelessness among Veterans. The goal in our community is to have a well-coordinated and efficient community system that assures homelessness is rare, brief, and non-recurring and no Veteran is forced to live on the street. This means that every Veteran has access to the support they need and want to avoid staying on the street and move quickly to permanent housing. In 2013, St. Vincent de Paul partnered with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to open the ‘Supportive Services for Veteran Families’ (SSVF) program. SSVF is designed to help very low-income Veteran families quickly regain housing stability after experiencing a housing crisis and/or homelessness.
