SOTHEBY'S is Hiring a Compensation Manager Near New York City, NY

You are a Compensation professional with drive and initiative, and the ability to think broadly. You are analytical by nature and enjoy the detailed technical aspects of compensation and data analysis, but enjoy thinking outside of the box and pitching new ideas. You have a technical aptitude and enjoy problem solving and working with data and data systems. You are a successful communicator and educator of technical aspects, making details come to life. You have a strong background in compensation and data analysis, and you are energized to work in a driven, fun, collaborative team environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with the Head of Compensation to administer the company’s compensation programs and oversee budgeting and planning for all compensation expenses globally
  • Implement, and administer global compensation policies and programs
  • Leverage SuccessFactors HRIS to support the annual salary and incentive compensation process, developing planning guidelines and a timetable for the HR Business Partners and leaders to execute against
  • Manage all of Sotheby’s sales and commission-based incentive programs 
  • Manage all of Sotheby’s referral programs
  • Partner with finance on the company-wide bonus accrual process 
  • Partner with external deferred compensation plan administrators to ensure accurate updating and reporting of deferred compensation plans and awards for participants
  • Serve as compensation consultant to HR Business Partners and managers, ensuring all ad hoc compensation related requests are completed accurately, equitably and in a timely manner
  • Provide compensation and leveling input and analysis with talent leaders during hiring processes
  • Prepare analytics and recommendations, as well as special studies on incentive compensation, bonus plans, long-term incentive awards, and similar compensation initiatives
  • Conduct competitive benchmarking and survey analysis to ensure the Company’s competitive position
  • Manage job matching and data submission processes for compensation surveys; analyze and utilize survey data results
  • Monitor compensation-related legislation, industry trends and technologies to ensure compliance and best practices

IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES 

  • 5 years of experience in compensation administration or consulting 
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred
  • The ideal candidate will also have experience with benchmarking, survey submission, job architecture, short and long term incentive programs, including sales-based and referral-based incentives
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Manages time efficiently and promotes collaboration and accountability
  • Strong ability to build trusted relationships with HR, Finance and leaders in the organization
  • Highly organized with solid administrative/follow-through skills
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to analyze, identifying creative solutions and making recommendations to effectively resolve issues
  • Strong team player with client service orientation
  • Knowledge of various employment laws and their impact on HR 
  • Strong project management skills; ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Demonstrated ability to partner within and outside of HR

The proposed base salary for this position ranges from $120,000-$150,000. In addition to base salary successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus, as well as a competitive benefits package. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.
