Compensation: $110,000-$130,000 annually
Summary: St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) is seeking a skilled and experienced Controller preferably with experience in non-profit accounting. The Controller will be responsible for developing and maintaining financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. This position oversees all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting ensuring compliance with GAAP and all applicable rules, laws and regulations. This position reports to the Executive Director and supervises all finance department personnel. The Controller is also responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate reporting of cash and revenue transactions to the general ledger and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP and non-profit accounting standards preferred. Experience with the ADP & Blackbaud financial management system is a plus. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and trends. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Education/ExperienceBachelor’s degree in accounting or related business degree is required.
Preferred skills and experience/Accountant
Master's degree preferred. CPA preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting with at least 2 years of it in a non-profit organization.
Language AbilityAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, safety information, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the Society.
Math AbilityAbility to work with fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions. Must be able to understand common cash management reports.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to solve practical problems quickly and in situations where limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer SkillsProficient in using Microsoft Office
Supervisory Responsibilities/AccountantThis position supervises the Senior Accountant, Staff Accountant and Accounting Coordinator.
